The Compass

The workspace where the platform happens.

Compass is one of the surfaces inside Gabarit Labs. It's where the six capabilities — defining the brand, planning the collection, running the launch, modeling the economics, maintaining the brand, repositioning when needed — actually happen. Foundation, collection, and launch each get their own studio.

Where the work happens

Three studios. Six capabilities.

Compass organizes the platform's six capabilities into three working studios. Each one is a real surface inside the product — not a tab or a dashboard, a workspace where a specific kind of thinking gets done.

01

Foundation Studio

Define · Maintain · Reposition

The brand's strategic spine. Archetype, positioning, voice, customer thesis. Versioned, moldable, never lost between drafts.

  • Define the brand
  • Maintain the brand
  • Reposition when needed
02

Collection Studio

Plan · Model

Every collection lives in its own workspace. Architecture, hierarchy, unit economics. Each piece's reason to exist, made explicit.

  • Plan the collection
  • Model the economics
03

Launch Studio

Run

Pitch deck, GTM plan, 90–180 day launch sprint. Sequenced, tracked, with Mentor proposing the next move.

  • Run the launch
Compass, specifically

What this surface does, and what it doesn't.

The strategic layer is the platform. Compass is the surface where the work gets done. Mentor is the AI advisor working alongside you inside it. Here's what that means in practice.

What Compass does.
  • Holds the foundation. A versioned, moldable document for the brand's strategic spine. Locked sections stay readable across versions.
  • Organizes collections. Every collection in its own workspace. Architecture, hierarchy, economics, status.
  • Runs the launch sprint. Pitch deck, GTM, 90–180 day plan, sequenced and tracked.
  • Surfaces Mentor. Mentor reads what's in Compass, proposes the next move, evaluates what you ship.
  • Keeps history. Every version, every decision, every reposition — captured. Nothing lost between drafts.
What Compass doesn't do.
  • Not production tooling. Tech packs, BOMs, mill coordination, sampling. Those tools exist and Gabarit Labs hands off to them.
  • Not inventory or orders. Warehouse, fulfillment, wholesale orders — different category, different tools.
  • Not a design tool. Illustrator, Procreate, and the sketchbook stay where they are.
  • Not a sourcing engine. We help you decide whether to source. We don't quote factories or run RFQs.
  • Not a substitute for craft. Strategy doesn't replace taste. It makes taste's decisions legible.
